Rochdale welcomes 2018 with fireworks and music

The arrival of the New Year was celebrated in Rochdale on Sunday, 31 December 2017 with 2 dazzling fireworks displays, live music and a party atmosphere enjoyed by thousands in the town centre.

Hundreds packed The Esplanade by Rochdale Town Hall during the afternoon enjoying children's rides, music, circus performances and games hosted by Revolution 96.2, before over a crowd of 2,000 watched a family friendly firework display.Two children with face paint. Then from 10pm revellers braved the rain to enjoy sets from Revolution 96.2 and ex Hacienda DJ Elliot Eastwick and a live performance of big band and swing classics from The Suburban Swing Orchestra before over 3,000 people watched a second dazzling display as Rochdale Town Hall clock chimed midnight.

"Both firework displays were superb and despite the weather we saw many thousands of people in our town centre enjoying the entertainment on another memorable evening."
