Over the past few months we’ve been working hard to move our content to a new website.
Why have we moved to a new website?
Our former website management system was outdated and did not allow us to effectively meet all your requirements.
We’re now using SharePoint to manage the website which will help us better join up data, analyse it and allow us to make more informed decisions.
What does this mean for customers?
Initially customers will see the website in very much the same way as the current website. As with the launch of any new website there may be some teething issues which we will monitor closely and aim to resolve as soon as possible.
In the coming months we will be working on a programme of work to improve what we deliver on the website. This includes but is not limited to:
- An events calendar that will allow people to search for events across the borough by criteria such as township, event time and date
- A new search engine to further improve our search results
- Better integration of events across the corporate website and the Visit Rochdale website
- Better designed content for mobile users
We do hope the website will continue to be delivered to world-wide accessibility standards and achieve continued recognition through Socitm*.
*Socitm is the body that annually assesses all council websites. For the 3rd consecutive year Rochdale Borough Council has achieved the maximum 4-star standard. In 2015 it was classed as 1 of only 8% of sites across the country that achieved the 4-star standard and the only council in Greater Manchester.
Send us your feedback
We’ve manually checked the website for errors and used automated tools to try to deliver you a site that delivers to high standards. If you do come across any errors please do let us know. If we fix it for you, we’ll fix it for all our other customers too. All you need to do is drop us an email.
Your feedback helps us know what’s working and what’s not.
Hope you enjoy using the site and thanks in advance.
