​​​​​​​​​Local election timetable - councillors are elected for a 4-year term by thirds (this is at each election a third of the council is elected). Elections are held every year except the county council year. The election years are 2018, 2019, 2020 and so on.​

Key dates leading up to the next election

​3-8 August 2018 - as part of annual canvass residents receive Household Enquiry form to confirm details. Annual canvass.

7-16 September 2018 - non-responding residents reminded of annual canvass.

6-21 October 2018 - canvassers call at non-responding households to gather information.

18 November 2018 - non-responders to the annual canvass will receive a final letter. 

1 December 2018 - register of electors published.

1 December 2018 - residents can register to vote from this date.

12 April 2019 - deadline for registering to vote in the election.

15 April 2019 at 5pm - deadline for registering for a postal vote.

24 April 2019 at 5pm - deadline for registering for a proxy vote.

2 May 2019 - local election day.
