During our Christmas toy appeal, you can donate gifts so local children living in poverty have a present to open on Christmas Day.
The appeal is organised by the charity 'Giving Back' which is run by council staff.
2020 Christmas toy appeal update
You can send presents until Friday, 4 December 2020. This then gives us time to sort and deliver them in time for Christmas Day.
This appeal depends entirely on the generosity of people and businesses in our borough, and every year it is heart-warming to see how many care enough to take part and donate.
2020 has been a year like no other. We know through our work with food banks and in the community, the day-to-day challenges felt by many local families have only become tougher as a result of the pandemic.
It can be a time of real pressure and hardship, making Christmas a struggle for many reasons. We still want to make sure that every child in the borough wakes up on Christmas morning with a present waiting for them and with your help, we'll do everything in our power to make this happen.
Toys and presents you can give
You can donate any toy or gift which is:
- Preferably not gift wrapped
- Suitable for a child aged 0-16 years old
Rochdale Giving Back Christmas Toy Appeal particularly welcomes presents for teenagers as they don't usually receive as many for this age group.
How to donate a toy or gift
To donate a toy or a gift you can:
- Donate cash that we'll turn into 'out of this world' Dippy the dinosaur gifts (opens in a new window). The Natural History Museum’s famous dinosaur visited Rochdale this year, giving the next generation of budding scientists and explorers a once in a lifetime opportunity to see and learn about a world famous icon. Due to COVID-19 we know that not all children were able to see Dippy and not all were fortunate to be able to purchase a Dippy souvenir.
Help the toy appeal to give children across the borough a reminder of this once in a lifetime experience. By making a donation to the Christmas Toy Appeal you'll be giving a special gift which can include books, toys, games, models or accessories as official souvenirs of Dippy's historic visit to the borough.
You can make a cash donation of £2 or other amount of your choice to the appeal and we’ll use that money to deliver gifts to children this Christmas; just type in the amount you wish to donate or select from the pre-set options.
- Order a gift online and request it be delivered directly to the appeal at the address below.
Order from Rochdale toyshop ToysARoo'. To support a local business, order online, Select 'Pick up' as your delivery option and type 'Giving Back' in the 'Add a note to your order' box. Staff from Rochdale Business Improvement District (BID) will collect and deliver it to the appeal for you FREE of charge, which means there are no delivery fees to pay.
Purchase a gift yourself from elsewhere and post it to us at the address below. Alternatively you can drop off your gift at one of the local collection points. Due to national restrictions please don't make a special journey to drop off your gift - only use these drop off points if you're also doing essential shopping.
