Activities at the centre
There's a warm welcome to mums, dads, grandparents and carers with children aged 0-5 years as well as childminders and those who look after children. Sandbrook Children's Centre also offer a number of sessions outside of the centre, alongside community partners, such as Story Time at Balderstone Library and SMURFS Under 5s at St Mary's Church.
Typical sessions include:
- Nature Detectives - outdoor session enabling children to explore the natural world.
- Rhythm and Rhyme - singing session with music and movement.
- Play and Learn with Toy Library sessions.

Situated alongside Sandbrook Community School on Hartley Lane, Kirkholt, Sandbrook Sure Start Children's Centre offers a welcoming and safe environment for families with children aged 0-5 years. There are excellent indoor and outdoor play facilities and a variety of sessions for children with parents, and parents only, including an active parents forum and play sessions for children to develop their own social skills. Sandbrook is the main 'hub' children’s centre, with Castleton Children's Centre branching from it.
Sandbrook Children's Centre offers the Family Journey Programme, a series of 12 workshops shaped to support families at the different stages of your child's development, such as weaning, potty training and going to nursery.
Sandbrook Children's Centre has Creche and Co Day Nursery on site.

Advice and information from Citizens Advice Bureau
Citizens Advice Bureau offer a service within the centre to the parents of children under 5 and pregnant mothers. The advice sessions are free, independent, impartial and confidential. The sessions will offer advice on any topic including:
- Debt Advice.
- Budget Advice.
- Tax Credits.
